WHAT IS THE PATIEŠĀM MAZIŅIEM PASS AND HOW TO PURCHASE IT?
A purchase of the pass grants access to all four concerts of the season in the selected time of attendance. Each of the four concerts takes place on a Saturday or Sunday at 11:00, 13:00 or 15:00. Concerts in Russian are held a week after concerts in Latvian on a Sunday at 11:00 or 15:00.
The passes can only be purchased in Biļešu Paradīze box offices or online at www.bilesuparadize.lv. The passes for the upcoming season are available from the day the last concert of the previous season is held (in spring) up to the day of the first concert of the new season (in autumn). For example, if a family with three listeners has purchased a pass for concerts on Saturdays at 13:00, the three family members upon presenting their passes are welcome at all 4 concerts – from autumn to spring in the dates listed in the programme, always at 13:00 on a Saturday.
A pass is not necessary for infants under the age of one.
WHAT AGE RANGE ARE THE CONCERTS INTENDED FOR?
The concerts are created for families with preschool age children aged 3-7, but they will also be interesting for children in the first grades of school. Frequently, families with children under 3 and over 7 years of age also choose to attend. The musical performance will also please the parents in the audience.
CAN A TICKET TO A SINGLE CONCERT ALSO BE PURCHASED?
Tickets to separate concerts will be available in Biļešu Paradīze box offices only in the case that after the sale of passes there are still seats available in some concert times.
We will release a very limited amount of seats to each individual concert (for each of the times for the price of 8 EUR per attendee) shortly before the beginning of each concert so the opportunity to attend a single concert of the cycle is also available for the Ģimenes karte 3+ card owners and other interested parties.
IS A TICKET (OR A PASS) NECESSARY FOR BOTH CHILDREN AND ADULTS, OR ONLY CHILDREN?
A ticket (or a pass) is required for each listener – both children and adults. Only infants below the age of one are admitted without cost.
WHAT IS THE PRICE OF A TICKET AND ARE THERE ANY DISCOUNTS FOR TICKETS AND PASSES
There are no discounts for passes. The price of a pass is 20 EUR per listener (both children and adults) from the age of 1 for the admittance to all 4 concerts.
The price of attending a single concert is 8 EUR per listener (ages 1+). A 50% discount is applicable for the single-event tickets for the holders of the Latvian honorary Ģimenes karte 3+ card (4 EUR for the attendance of the concert for each listener of age 1+). Holders of the card need to enter the card number before purchasing online or present the card in a ticket office.
DOES THE VENUE HAVE NUMBERED SEATS?
No, upon arriving, the families can pick seats freely – they can sit together in the main hall or balcony. The children are encouraged to sit on the cushions in front of the stage and their parents are then encouraged to sit on the chairs in the sides of the hall or towards the back.
HOW LONG IS A CONCERT?
The duration of each programme differs a little, but the average length is 45-55 minutes.
HOW DO I KNOW MY CHILD WILL ENJOY THE CONCERT?
The attention span and interest depends on both the age of the child and their temper.
Each concert in the cycle is created as a musical fairy tale lead by a storyteller (the author and host of the concerts Karina Bērziņa) so the music is always intertwined with an engaging story. Classical and popular music pieces are frequently shortened by presenting the children with fragments; additionally, the action on the stage is always augmented by video projections – images evoking fantasy or adding to the action or music. The musicians on stage frequently also play the roles of characters the children are familiar with. In some of the concerts we also invite actors, dancers, circus performers and other stage artists. Each concert of the cycle is stylistically and musically different.
CAN THE CONCERT HALL BE ENTERED WITH A STROLLER?
If the family has arrived at the concert early (around 20 min before the starting time) while the hall is not full, some strollers can be parked inside the concert hall. The remaining parents are asked to leave the strollers in the lobby in which an employee will be minding them throughout the duration of the concert.
ARE THERE ANY EXTRA ACTIVITIES FOR THE CHILDREN ON THE CONCERT DAYS?
-Half an hour before the concert we invite children and their families to participate in short creative workshops – a new theme will be chosen each time (second floor of the concert hall, in the lobby)
- On the first floor, next to the cloakroom, half an hour before and after each concert a small musical playroom is available in which the children can try out different musical instruments and musical toys.
- On the first floor a book table is always available (itinerant sales) and a small café is available with pastry, tea, coffee and water. The itinerant sale tables only accept payments in cash.
